About Me

🌟 Hi, I’m Ruby — Cambridge MML Student & Oxbridge Admissions Coach

I’m a 2nd year Modern and Medieval Languages student at the University of Cambridge, where I study French and Spanish post-A Level, and Portuguese ab initio. My academic focus is currently on European cinema and postcolonial literature — and I’m especially passionate about helping students explore the arts and humanities through their studies.
Over the past three years, I’ve worked as a tutor and supported almost 20 young people through the Oxbridge admissions process. Since starting at Cambridge two years ago, I’ve helped sixth formers with personal statements, admissions test prep, mock interviews, and course selection — especially those applying for arts and humanities subjects, and have particular experience supporting applications for languages, history, social sciences and english degrees. I love working closely with students and am always excited to help them find their voice and prepare the best application possible.

With nearly five years of experience working with young people across childcare and education, I’ve supported hundreds of students aged 3–18 from a wide range of nationalities, backgrounds, and educational levels. This has shaped my flexible, empathetic approach — I adapt to each student’s needs and aim to create a warm, supportive space where they feel confident and understood.

🎓 What I Offer:

Honest, tailored guidance through every stage of the Oxbridge application

Deep subject-specific insight for languages, literature, and the humanities

Personal statement feedback, admissions test support, and interview prep

Empathetic mentorship for students from underrepresented or minority backgrounds

🧡 Access & Outreach Work: As someone from a minority background, widening participation is at the heart of what I do. I’m a Student Ambassador for the University of Cambridge and volunteer with my college’s outreach team, where I also lead open day tours, workshops and Q and A's. Last year, I was nominated for the Cambridge SU Prize for Widening Participation.

I’ve contributed to the Oxbridge Launchpad platform and worked with them on several programmes over the last two years, including helping to coordinate the new online platform! I’ve also mentored with Target Oxbridge and Future Leaders, and provided voluntary A-Level French tuition.

🎭 A Bit About Me: Outside my studies, I’m the captain of the university cheerleading team and an active member of student theatre. I’m friendly, down-to-earth, and genuinely excited to work with students — whether you're aiming for Oxbridge or just beginning to explore your options.

💬 Let’s Work Together - I’m here to support you every step of the way — especially if you’re passionate about the humanities and want to bring your authentic voice to your application.
