About Me

Hello, my name is John Nichols, and I am currently a third-year Economics and Management student at Oxford. I have a wide range of professional experience, including roles as an economic analyst and research assistant. I also run my own startup company.  Over the past three years, I have provided both paid and volunteer tutoring for Oxbridge admissions. I’ve supported seven students through every stage of the application process, including applicants from Uzbekistan and Poland. Compared to the average, the students I’ve tutored have had more than triple the expected success rate for securing interviews and receiving offers. I’m passionate about teaching and will begin teaching Economics full-time at The King’s School in Canterbury from September 2025.  I come from a state school background and qualified for free school meals. I was told multiple times by the head of admissions at my sixth form that I had no chance of getting into my course. I’m lucky I didn’t listen. Because of wildly inaccurate UCAS predicted grades, I was rejected by UCL, LSE, Bristol, and Bath—every university I applied to, except Oxford. And yet here I am, studying one of the most competitive courses at the university.  There’s a lot that people don’t know about how Oxbridge admissions really work. I’m offering Oxbridge admissions tutoring to do my part in closing that information gap.
